Features of CPM Noticed by Experienced Users

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

We interviewed 16 teachers who were experienced with CPM and 25 teachers who were not experienced with CPM as they planned lessons using CPM materials. We will discuss the differences between these two groups in terms of how they envisioned the sequence of activities in a lesson, how they situated the lesson within a broader sequence, and how they viewed the perspectives on learning and teaching in the CPM materials. We draw implications for teacher educators working to familiarize colleagues (particularly novices in using CPM materials) to effective uses of the CPM materials. In the presentation, we will have participants work with CPM lessons they have not taught in order to gauge understanding of their own perspective on the features of CPM.
