I am experiencing my fifth decade of being an educator! I retired from Bloomington Kennedy HS in Bloomington, MN, then worked in Minneapolis Public Schools as a middle school math coach. I also worked with ISA (Institute for Student Achievement) as a math coach "fresh starting" North High School in Minneapolis.
Currently I am an Implementation Support Specialist with CPM Educational Program, working with really terrific educators.
My "side job" over the last 45 years is coaching high school swimming. I keep my connection with students grades 7-12. And I love being a grandma.
Please ask me questions regarding why students need to learn mathematics conceptually, growing in their understanding of "why". Ask me about using team roles in a collaborative environment and how that supports deeper understanding. And do ask me about teacher moves! Like the latest dance moves or sports moves, we teachers have our moves to push student learning forward. I believe everyone can "do the math"!
